A basic diaper wipes solution works fine for most babies, but what if you want to get a little more adventurous? It’s easy to substitute an aromatic baby wash for a delicious new scent, or add a few drops of essential oil to fight bacteria. Here are 6 simple recipes to help you get started.
Aromatic Apricot
- 1 tbsp apricot oil
- 1 tbsp unscented baby wash
- 2 cups water
Apricot oil has a wonderful smell, but only if you combine it with an unscented wash.
Calming Lavender
- 1 tbsp baby oil
- 1 tbsp lavender scented baby wash
- 2 cups water
The smell of lavender has a calming effect on babies (and parents).
Lanolin & Glycerin
- 1 tsp liquid glycerin
- 1 tsp liquid lanolin
- 1 tbsp baby wash
- 2 cups water
You can use lanolin and glycerin instead of oil. Lanolin is a moisture-retaining wax produced by sheep. Glycerin is a natural component of animal and vegetable fats.
Olive & Tea Tree
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp unscented baby wash
- 2 drops tea tree oil
- 2 cups water
Hate flowery, fruity scents? Smell this natural combo and see what you think.
Sleepy Olive & Tea Tree
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp unscented baby wash
- 2 drops tea tree oil
- 2 drops lavender oil
- 2 cups water
Add a couple drops of lavender oil for a calming scent that’s not overpowering.
Soothing Calendula
- 1 tsp calendula oil
- 1/4 cup aloe vera gel
- 2 drops tea tree oil
- 1 tbsp baby wash
- 2 cups water
Calendula is a natural anti-inflammatory that can soothe mildly irritated skin.
